Air Shipments Events Transit Time
A Power BI report tracking air shipments through each shipment event, built from scratch on a documented data model with DAX measures.
Business problem
Air shipment transit times lived across multiple event records, so answering 'how long did this actually take, and where did it slow down' meant piecing data together by hand.
Solution
- Built a Power BI report from scratch that follows shipments through their events, making transit time visible at every stage.
- Created the data model, DAX measures and business logic from scratch, and documented all of it.
Measurable impact
End to end
Transit time visible across every shipment event
What changed for the team
- Transit time became visible at every stage of an air shipment, so slow legs could be identified from data rather than guessed.
- Customer questions about where a shipment was and how long it took could be answered directly from the report.
- Stage-level measures made it possible to compare lanes and legs on actual event data, leg by leg.
Technical implementation
- Power BI data model designed from scratch with relationships across shipment events.
- DAX measures for transit time and stage-level performance defined once in the model.
- Model, measures and logic fully documented.
